No matter what I do or try, she just can't get away from it. I've come to terms with that fact and now I'm just trying to get this stupid Joomla site finished. I can't seem to explain to my client just how much work has to go in to do something simple. For example, open the read more links Joomla has in a new window? Impossible. I've opened several files, adjusting the code to no avail. I've tried their support forums - and they all ask me to modify Joomla blogging code, or simply insert my own link instead. I want an option to let me do it. How is that so difficult?! How about installing things? Half the time Joomla can't find its own stupid install.xml file which is just bad. Most of the semi-decent add-ons that have features you need are paid-for. Even then they don't like to play nice with each other. One of them (DT Register) couldn't clean up after itself when being uninstalled, which meant I had to go into the database and remove the tables myself. I honestly can't see this software being practical. I mean, you have to be a programmer just to get things the way you wanted it. I'd have better luck using Codeigniter or building my own Framework to base a CMS off of to do what my client wants. I've been at this for over a year and STILL haven't gotten it to where my client wants all because Joomla is a major pain in the ass. STAY AWAY FROM JOOMLA! SAVE YOURSELF! I hate to jump to conclusion but after a about three weeks with Joomla, I hate it. I have spent almost a week trying to find a viable photo album option and they all suck. With WP, this would be as simple as installing NEXTGen Gallery and moving on. Or simply use featured images. Now let me spend another 4 weeks on figuring out how to use thumbnails with joomla articles. Oh wait, one guy 3 years ago on some sparse forum said that the best way to use thumbnails with joomla was to use this extension with this extension and buy this component, and upgrade to joomla 1.5.12.9.74.58 but dont upgrade to version 1.5.12.9.74.59 yet cause none of the extensions, plugins, components, or modules will be compatible for another year even though they are commercial plugins. I think rather than using Joomla, I am going to pay someone to come sit behind me and slap me in the top of my skull with a long wooden spoon repeatedly.
